Ageing 2000s-era C-Bus relay and power supply units are failing across Sydney. Lights stuck on, buzzing relays, zones not responding β we diagnose, source and replace same-day. Accredited Clipsal C-Bus technician.
Of our last 87 C-Bus service calls, roughly 30 involved failed or failing relay and power supply units. These are 15–25 year old components reaching end of life.
A loud buzz or chatter from the relay enclosure indicates the contactor is vibrating rather than latching. This is a fire risk β the relay can fuse closed. Needs immediate replacement.
A zone of lights that won't turn off (or on) is the classic symptom of a failed relay output. The internal mechanism has welded or broken. Common in L5512RVF and L5508RVF units.
Unstable power delivery from a failing power supply unit can cause intermittent flickering, dimming, or erratic behaviour across multiple C-Bus zones.
A completely unresponsive lighting zone β no power, no response from C-Bus Toolkit β points to a failed relay or its power supply. The unit needs replacement, not reprogramming.
We carry stock of the most common failing units and can source any C-Bus relay or power supply, including discontinued models.
12-channel relay. The most common failing unit across Sydney commercial buildings. Lights stuck on is the giveaway.
8-channel relay. Common in commercial fitouts and multi-zone installations across Sydney.
8-channel dimmer. Failure causes flickering, non-responsive zones, or total zone loss.
4-channel universal dimmer. Common in hospitality and retail fitouts.
Older-generation power supply unit still in service across commercial buildings.
4-channel dimmer. Surface-mount enclosure, common in strata and residential buildings.
4-channel relay. Compact form factor, widely installed across Sydney buildings.
We can source any C-Bus relay, dimmer, or power supply. Contact us with the model number.
We use C-Bus Toolkit to identify the failed unit. Relay stuck closed? Power supply voltage drop? Network communication loss? We pinpoint the exact cause.
We carry common units in stock (L5512RVF, L5508RVF, L5508D1A). For older or discontinued models, we source compatible replacements including NOS (new old stock).
We install the replacement, reconfigure group addresses and scenes in C-Bus Toolkit, and verify all loads operate correctly. No licensed electrical work needed β a qualified electrician handles the wiring; we handle the automation.
We test all affected zones, confirm the replacement is communicating on the C-Bus network, and verify programming. We provide documentation for strata records or building management.
Most replacements are done same-day. We carry common units in stock and can diagnose remotely in many cases.
